Diablo: Patch 2.3.0 Kanai’s Cube and More

A new patch will be swinging into effect on Diablo next month along with Season 4’s launch and we’ve got the highlights. Along with several bug tweaks, the addition of a new location open for exploration, and much more, patch 2.3 strives to streamline in-game experience and make things a little more fluid.

The frozen wastelands known as “The Ruins of Sescheron” will now be open to gamers for exploration. The wastelands are riddled with all new hazards, traps, and enemies that will keep you on your toes while you travel through the new region to discover what happened to the areas previous inhabitants, the barbarians of Mount Arreat. Uncover the Immortal Throne located somewhere in the Ruins of Sescheron to unlock a powerful item known as “Kanai’s Cube.”

The Cube is a new artisan that opens up a medley of new recipes to the wielder which will allow for item customization as well as the ability to catalogue Legendary powers. Several recipes will be included immediately after acquiring Kanai’s Cube. A sample of some of these new recipes can be found below:

Remove Level Requirement: Removes the level requirement from an item, allowing it to be equipped by a character of any level.

Convert Gems: Converts 9 of any color gem to 9 of any other color.

Convert Crafting Materials: Converts 100 normal, magic, or rare Crafting Materials to 100 of another type of non-legendary Crafting Material

Extract Legendary Power: Destroy an item to add its Legendary power to your catalogue of collected powers. Once a power has been extracted, it can be equipped to your character without the need to equip the item. Players may have one Weapon, one Armor, and one Jewelry power equipped at a time. Players may only equip powers from items that their characters can normally equip and use.

Reforge a Legendary Item: Completely re-rolls a Legendary item as though it had dropped for the first time. This includes any powers that may have been previously enchanted on the item. Note that reforged items may re-roll as either Ancient or non-Ancient, so reforge at your own discretion!

Upgrade Rare Item: Upgrades the quality of a level 70 Rare item to Legendary. This item will roll as a randomized Legendary that shares that item’s equipment type.

Convert Set Item: Converts a Set item to a randomized piece of gear from the same Set. For example, if you convert a pair of Asheara’s Finders, you could get Asheara’s Custodian, Asheara’s Pace, or Asheara’s Ward in return.

The cost of crafting Ancient Legendaries such as Aughild’s will also become more hefty as the materials required to create the item will cost the new precious crafting materials that have been acquired from bounties. So point being, craft your items now before they hike the requirements up!

The Rift Portal Stone will make a reappearance with Patch 2.3. Players will have the option to revisit the portal in order to complete Nephalem (Normal) Rifts with no cost and without having to spend a Greater Rift. Completing a trial will not be necessary as players will have the option to start a Greater Rift with a difficulty setting ot their choosing. After the Patches activation, the Torment equivalents will display closer to the Greater Rift’s Level number.
