As I’m sure you’ve noticed, here at MMOSpotlight, we’ve been chomping at the bit for any Diablo 3 news. Our previous article talked about the “oopsie” that Best Buy made regarding the release of Diablo 3, but now we’ve got some actual Diablo 3 news about how the Beta is going. Diablo 3 has had players testing it out, and has began to refine some features in the Beta.
In Diablo 3’s tenth Beta patch, the Blizzard team has decided to remove the Scrolls of Companion and Scrolls of Reforging features. The Diablo 3 team voiced their concerns on their blog that the Companion system seemed to be too “cutesy” and didn’t mesh that well with the ominous feel that Diablo 3 provides. The team also voiced their concerns about the refining of these features and that it may delay the release of this long waited for series. Nethaera, a community manager, stated in a post “Neither of those are issues we felt like we could solve without a lot of additional work, and we’re trying to close in on a solid release date for the game, not move further away. When weighing these systems against releasing the game, we decided to cut these scrolls and stay on track for the game’s release”.
With that being said, it’s nice to see that the Diablo 3 team is being so consciousnesses to their players and is still aiming to get D3 up and rolling as soon as possible (without compromising the player experience). The Companion and Reforging system is still expected to be a feature that is included in the game, however, it may come with a later update. The team is currently working on refining the systems in a way that enhances the D3 experience, and it should be exciting to see what they come up with! Although the systems will not be included in the initial release, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
Stay tuned to MMOSpotlight and our Diablo 3 news because we’re sure you’re waiting for the release as eagerly as we are. You’ve got an opinion, and we’d love to hear it! So please feel free to let us know how you feel about the Blizzard team removing these features in the comments below!
