If you are a fan of SimCity or Civilization, then check this game out! Anno Online is a free-to-play, browser based, city builder game that allows you to interact with other players from around the world, while growing your own village into a massive medieval city.

Gameplay

Learning the interface is guided by a simple quest-like tutorial, but also involves a bit of exploring on your part. You learn all the basic controls to build your city; Navigation is by mouse click and you can move the screen with the arrow keys, so it is really simple.

Character creation is simplistic. All you really customize is your face. You can choose your hair, eyes, hat, and torso clothes. It may not seem like a lot, but considering many other games like this do not even allow for avatar customization this aspect is an interesting one.

You can play with others in cooperative gameplay. Players have the opportunity to be a part of a giant empire and come together in powerful guilds to work together for joint goals such as monumental buildings. Players can complete server wide quests and establish trade routes.

Graphics

The graphics are typical of games of this nature. You move around your two-dimensional village building detailed homes. If you zoom in you can even see your villagers wandering about doing their jobs. The graphic details are realistic enough to make you feel like a god watching over a city full of lively citizens.

The more than 1,500 highly detailed buildings with over 120 skins that comprise every city make up the lack of three-dimensional depth. Islands and oceans teem with animated people and ships, the water near the fishing posts visibly teems with fish. Over 10,000 decorative objects give each island unique character.

Bottom Line

Anno online is a fun, and beautiful city builder game. If you want to build an empire from the ground up and grow into a thriving city. Its simplistic navigation and engaging gameplay make this game worth your time.
